  • Material: Primarily 304 stainless steel (standard corrosion resistance, polished or brushed finish) or 316/316L (superior for marine, chemical, or high-salt environments).
  • Ratings: Most are NEMA 4X (watertight, dust-tight, corrosion-resistant, hose-directed water, external ice) and IP65/IP66 (some reach IP69K for washdown). UL-listed in many cases.
  • Design: Single or double doors, continuous hinges, quarter-turn latches, 3-point handles, or clamped covers. Often include internal back panels/mounting plates (galvanized or stainless), collar studs, and grounding provisions.
  • Construction: Seam-welded, heavy-gauge (often 14-18 gauge), with gaskets for sealing. Many have sloped tops for drainage in washdown areas.
